On December 17, 2022, a Cessna pilot approaching Tucson, Arizona, reported a strange red-and-silver object while descending through 8,400 feet. The FAA has now released air traffic control audio, radar data, and official reports through a FOIA request filed by The Black Vault.

The pilot described the object as “vertical,” not like a normal quadcopter, and said it looked “almost like an Iron Man suit.” The FAA logged the case as “Suspicious UAS Activity” and notified law enforcement.
