Global Disclosure Day (GDD) was born out of Citizens for Disclosure, a grassroots initiative dedicated to promoting government transparency regarding Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP). The first GDD, held on October 20, 2024, coincided with a historic milestone: the deadline set by the Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (Public Law 118-31, Sections 1841–1843), requiring Executive Branch agencies to identify, collect, and transmit UAP-related records to the National Archives’ new UAP Records Collection.
Just before that date, however, the National Archives issued Memo AC 04.2025, extending the deadline until September 30, 2025, for agencies to complete the transmission of responsive records.
While GDD 2024 was built around the original October deadline, GDD 2025 is now focused on the bigger picture: the status of disclosure itself. This means not only discussing the September 30, 2025, transmission deadline, but also the future of disclosure.teves
