Our astronaut Thomas Pesquet, @NASA astronaut Jessica Wittner, and Arnaud Prost – member of our Astronaut Reserve, participating through a cooperation we have with @CnesFrance – have been training in the fjords of Lofoten, Norway.
Their mission? To train like lunar geologists as part of our PANGAEA course.
Lofoten is one of the few places on Earth where you can walk on rocks similar to those found on the Moon. It’s the perfect natural lab to sharpen field skills, interpret satellite data, and prepare for future Moon missions.
This marks the fourth time astronauts have trained in this Arctic region – using Earth as a stepping stone to explore beyond.
