The early universe was ablaze with massive, unstable genesis stars. While none of these stars still shine today, astronomers continue to uncover clues to their bygone existence. And recently, scientists using the ESO's Very Large Telescope identified three nebulous clouds at high redshifts, whose compositions match those we'd expect to find left behind by the supernovae of these first stars.
